When you talk about the best developers of tight end talent nationally, Notre Dame football is right there with anyone. Their history has been very strong, putting some legitimate talent into the NFL. Some names like Dave Casper, Mark Bavaro, Tyler Eifert, Cole Kmet, and Michael Mayer quickly come to mind. That is an impressive list.

It isn't any surprise that Notre Dame typically attracts some big time recruits. The Fighting Irish will be hosting several on Friday, including Waukee (Iowa) High School star tight end Evan Jacobson. He is one of the most impressive athletes of any tight end in the class. The 6-7, 220-pound pass catcher gets his first look at South Bend.

Jacobson’s offer list has ballooned quickly this offseason, and his offer list now sits over 30 in total. Some of the more notable teams that have extended scholarship offers include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, LSU, Penn State, Miami, Auburn, Florida State, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Colorado, Michigan State, Louisville, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Boston College, Purdue, Stanford, Minnesota, Missouri, Baylor, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa State and Kansas among others.

The talented athlete is considered to be the No. 169 overall player and No. 11 in the 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports. Jacobson is also ranked as the top player in the state of Iowa. It also isn’t overly surprising that he is a tremendous basketball player for Waukee, following in his father’s footsteps, who played football at Nebraska and Iowa State.

Nobody knows how the visit is going to go, and whether Notre Dame can make a big move with Jacobson. He is one of the top tight ends in the country, and there is clearly enough interest for him to make the visit. Can the Irish staff get Jacobson back for an official visit later this offseason? We should know more after this weekend.
