When Notre Dame football offered 2026 Avon (Conn.) Old Farms offensive tackle Charlie Thom a couple of weeks ago, most expected him to eventually end up in the Fighting Irish class. That finally happened on Tuesday when Thom chose Notre Dame over Penn State and Boston College. A high school tight end, this is a developmental offensive tackle who brings some intriguing athletic upside to the table.
With Thom now in the class, let's predict the next five commitments in the 2026 group for Notre Dame. The board is thinning out quickly. Head coach Marcus Freeman and the staff are busy putting together an elite group. That momentum is going to continue over the next few weeks.
WR Devin Fitzgerald – Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy Prep
The son of former future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald, Devin boats a big frame at 6-2 and 185 pounds, and a massive catch radius to make a lot of plays in the air. Since his official visit to Notre Dame a few weekends ago, things have been trending very quickly for the Irish. Fitzgerald is the size prototype that they need desperately in the boundary in this wide receiver room for the 2026 recruiting class.
S Nick Reddish – Charlotte (N.C.) Independence
With Notre Dame gaining a commitment from Joey O’Brien and Khary Adams recently, there is one more spot in the secondary for the Fighting Irish class. Reddish is an underrated safety on the back end but brings a lot of coverage upside to the table. The 5-11, 185-pound defender can make plays from depth, as well as in the slot, or in the box as well.
TE Evan Jacobson – Waukee (Iowa) High School
At 6-6 and 225 pounds, Jacobson has the frame and growth upside to become an outstanding inline option at tight end long term. He has very underrated long speed and a huge catch radius to work with. Combining Jacobson with Fryzel would create an intriguing duo to develop for the Irish staff, each possessing very different styles.
WR Kaydon Finley – Aledo (Texas) High School
There is no bigger target on the board than Finley, and that is true at any position. The 6-0, 200-pound wide receiver is one of the more productive pass catchers in the entire 2026 recruiting class. He is a Texas legacy (his father Jeremichael Finley played tight end for the Longhorns) so there has been a lot of anxiousness about whether his official visit down to Austin, Texas would tilt this recruitment back toward the home state program this past weekend. I like the Fighting Irish as the dust is settling.
DT Elijah Golden – Sarasota (Fla.) High School
Notre Dame is currently fighting it out with Alabama for Golden, but the feelings are very positive with where the Fighting Irish are coming out of his official visit last weekend. At right around 6-3 and 270 pounds, Golden does project better as a dynamic three technique on the next level. That’s the player that Notre Dame is missing right now in this class.
