With the 2024 college football season nearly a quarter of the way over, the finish for the 2025 recruiting class will continue to become more and more of a prevalent topic. We are only a little over a couple months left until National Signing Day, and a lot is going to happen during that time. That includes the good, bad, and indifferent.
For Notre Dame, there aren’t a ton of spots of questions remaining, but there are some important ones. What does the ideal finish for the 2025 class look like? Here’s what the Irish still have left to answer.
Keep Deuce Knight in the class
You can throw the “keep your commits committed” into this section, but that type of commentary should be self explanatory. As your quarterback commit in the 2025 class, and a five-star talent, trying to keep a player line Knight in the class is so important. It has felt like the Lucedale (Miss.) George County star was going to flip to Auburn about 97 times the last couple of months, but nothing has changed. The longer it plays out, the better it is for the Irish staff. This is far from over but Notre Dame is fighting.
Strong finish at wide receiver
Wide receiver recruiting has been a headache this cycle for Notre Dame. After missing out on Derek Meadows, Dylan Robinson, and Tanook Hines, a reset needed to happen. There are now new names to know on the board, and things have been trending in a positive direction. The three big names now are SMU commit Jalen Cooper, South Florida commit Antavious Richardson, and Arizona commit Isaiah Mizell. You need to get two of those three to flip, and when you do, that brings a lot of speed to the table. Whatever combination it ends up being, Cooper being a part of the equation would be the best case scenario.
Solidify elite haul at linebacker
We know who is left on the linebacker board for Notre Dame. You already hold commits from Anthony Sacca and Josiah Kia, which is a really nice duo. There are, however, two elite players left on the board that the Irish fans are very aware of. One is IMG Academy star Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, who is a Notre Dame legacy. The other is California standout Madden Faraimo, who is set to visit for the Louisville game this weekend. The Irish have been in a good spot with both, and really need to close on at least one. Close on both and it really moves the needle with this class.
Take a chance on development
With the majority of your class already solidified, Notre Dame has the luxury of potentially taking some chances down the stretch. With the scholarship limit increasing, that is especially true. That could give the Irish some ability to push for a player like Covington (Ga.) Alcovy defensive lineman Tim Griffin, who is a late riser. The same might be true for Mukilteo (Wash.) Kamiak tight end T’Andre Waverly, who visited South Bend for the first time recently. Those types of players are both impressive athletes, and could be worth a late push to continue adding depth of talent.
