Though the Ohio State Buckeyes aren’t going to dip as heavily into the transfer portal as they did in the winter, they’re still looking to make some additions.
Following the spring, head coach Ryan Day said that the defensive line is one place the team would have to take a look at.
"I think we've got to take a hard look at it," Day said. "I don't think I have the answer right now. But we've got to look at it. It seemed to me like there was just a lot of knockback on the offensive side of the ball here. But then again, I don't want to make any judgments until I watch the film."
Ohio State set to host Georgia Southern DL Troy Pikes
According to Pete Nakos of On3, Ohio State will host Georgia Southern transfer DL Troy Pikes next weekend. Pikes visited Georgia this past week and is receiving interest from other schools, such as Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Maryland.
Pikes is a 6-foot-3, 290-pound interior defensive lineman from Atlanta, Georgia, so the Bulldogs have to be the obvious school to watch here. Pikes played in 13 games as a sophomore for Georgia Southern last season and had 13 tackles and a tackle for loss.
If Ohio State were to bring in Pikes, it would be to help bolster the interior depth. The transfer has two years of eligibility left, so Ohio State wouldn’t need to rush him into action right away. Eddrick Houston and Kayden McDonald are the two ideal starters on the interior right now. The transfer of Hero Kanu to Texas hurt the Buckeyes a bit.
Ohio State isn’t as aggressive in the portal this offseason as they were a year ago before their National Championship season. However, if there is a player to be added the Buckeyes are on the lookout.

No hard feelings from either side.
