Oklahoma Sooners’ young star beat his coaches to the punch by providing his own injury update after win over Michigan
The Oklahoma Sooners will need Michael Fasusi badly in 2025.
Against the Michigan Wolverines, the Oklahoma Sooners played a ton of young guys, including true freshmen starting cornerback Courtland Guillory and left tackle Michael Fasusi. And, true freshman running back Tory Blaylock had a ton of run, too. That’s just to name a few guys who played a ton of football on Saturday.
It’s clear that Fasusi will be the future of this offensive line. But at the end of the game, he limped off the field. After the game, he met with reporters on-site to let everyone know that he was fine and there was nothing to worry about, according to On3’s George Stoia.
Fasusi, the young guy, beat his coaches to the punch in providing an injury report.
Fasusi is the future, and he’s only going to get better
Last season, the offensive line was maybe the biggest issue outside of the actual offensive scheme and playcalling. That and injuries, of course. The offensive line, though, was one of the worst in the county, and one that couldn’t do any good consistently in the pass game or run game. This year, it’s looking like they could be pretty good. Don’t get me wrong, they still had some issues against Michigan, but they held up well, all things considered.
Michigan has one of the better defensive lines and linebacker groups in the country, and yet, the run game was solid, and Mateer wasn’t pressured at an insane rate. They did fine, not amazing, and not bad. And, part of that is because of Fasusi, who played his butt off. Thankfully, the cornerstone of the offensive line for the future isn’t hurt.
This is one of the biggest tests the Sooners will face in 2025, and they played well with an entirely new combination at offensive line. The Texas Longhorns, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Ole Miss Rebels are the only other teams left on their schedule that could give Oklahoma a fit in the trenches. And, Texas got thrown around by the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Fasusi played great, and the Sooners just might be back on the offensive line.
