Penn State looking to hand Oregon more than one loss this weekend with the Ducks top commit traveling to visit Happy Valley
Penn State is set to host the Oregon Ducks this weekend. They are also looking to steal one of Dan Lanning’s top recruits right out from under him.
The Penn State Nittany Lions are welcoming the Oregon Ducks to Happy Valley for a massive Top-10 matchup this weekend. Head coach James Franklin is hoping to prove all the doubters wrong and show that he can win a big game. That’s the main priority for this White Out battle on Saturday.
A victory over Dan Lanning on the field, however, isn’t the only win that the Penn State program is pushing for. The Ducks’ top 2026 commit will also be on campus to visit the Nittany Lions program with Baltimore (Md.) Georgetown Preparatory School offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho making the trip. Iheanacho is considered a five-star player and a major target for Penn State despite his commitment to Oregon.
This is a very awkward situation for the Ducks. Not only are they on the road in a Top-10 battle, but they also need to impress players like Iheanacho in enemy territory. There is a lot on the line this weekend, a potential great early victory, destroying a narrative, and keeping your top recruit.
Despite Iheanacho committing to the Ducks back on July 3rd, the massive offensive tackle has continued to listen to other programs. While Oregon still feels good about its current standing, Iheanacho is clearly not fully settled in his commitment.
Iheanacho’s recruiting background
Iheanacho is considered to be an elite-level recruit by multiple of the major recruiting platforms. That includes the 247 Sports Composite ranking, which currently has him rated as the No. 9 overall player and No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class. The Maryland native also sits as a five-star player on the Rivals Industry ranking, pegged as the No. 6 overall player and No. 2 offensive tackle in the country.
Outside of Oregon and Penn State, a long list of impressive programs have continued to put us the 6-6, 350-pound behemoth. Some of Iheanacho’s other top offers include Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, USC, Texas A&M, Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, and Ole Miss among many, many others.
From a pure physical perspective, you won’t find many more impressive-looking offensive linemen than Iheanacho. He is a massive athlete that some teams view as an offensive tackle, and others see him eventually moving inside to guard down the road. For being a huge offensive lineman, Iheanacho has some impressive movement skills. There is so much upside to tap into, whether he sticks at tackle or moves inside on the next level.
