Top running back recruit in Alabama committed for now, but his spring and summer visits could lead to flip

Not many running back recruits out there land offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Auburn on top of 25 other schools, but that's just how special Anthony Rogers looks like he could be. If you're unfamiliar with Rogers, he's been a consensus Top 100 recruit for two years now who just wrapped up his junior year with the famed IMG Academy in Florida.
While it has seemed like his recruitment was all but a lock since he committed to Alabama last June, his spring and summer visits this year have spiced things up a bit. Could he actually flip at any point this summer? And how was this young running back good enough to get his Alabama commitment set more than two years before he would ever play a down of college football?
Anthony Rogers' Elite Abilities
He may not be the biggest running back (5'8", 190 pounds), but he sure makes up for his lack of feature back size by being extremely fast, balanced, and quick to accelerate. Rogers has been crazy quick dating back to his sophomore year where he ran a 10.77-second 100-meter dash time. Before that he had already racked up over 3000 yards from scrimmage in his first two high school seasons thanks to his amazing wheels on the field.
Rogers was a part of Pike Road High School's state championship as a freshman, dominated again as a sophomore, and then made the jump to IMG Academy in Florida. IMG Academy has sent more players to be drafted to the NFL than any other high school in the last decade, and Rogers was good enough to star there in 2023.
Now he'll transfer back to Alabama for his senior year, where he should put up absurd stats once again. He's considered a consensus fringe Top 100 talent right now, but with one more strong season Rogers could rise into fringe five star territory where he was ranked almost two years ago.
Where will Anthony Rogers end up signing?
Many believe Rogers will still end up playing for the Crimson Tide, but there are a handful of blue blood programs still likely in the mix. Rogers visited with Auburn (the other in-state school), Georgia, and Alabama all three this spring already. But this week he took a multi-day unofficial visit to Ohio State and will apparently likely be back for an official before he fully commits.
As John Garcia Jr. of Rivals (and others) reported this weekend, Anthony "Turbo" Rogers was visiting with Ohio State and loved it. Rogers himself said he "had a great time at Ohio State" and apparently will be returning to see the Buckeyes again in the future.
We haven't gotten clarity on his full official visit schedule just yet, but Rogers seems like he's made it clear. The two in-state schools Alabama and Auburn, the most dominant team in the sport right now in Georgia, and Ohio State are all still likely in it.
We didn't get to see him utilize his receiving abilities much in his time with IMG Academy, but if he gets back to his impressive 25+ yards per reception ways as a senior we may be looking at the most highly coveted running back in the nation down the stretch ahead of national signing day.
