Chris Jones is hoping for a different type of reunion with former teammate Frank Clark ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 6 tilt with the Denver Broncos on "Thursday Night Football."
After the Broncos' disappointing start to the Sean Payton era, veteran players don't seem to be very safe in their roles with the team. Denver sent OLB Randy Gregory to the San Francisco 49ers in a trade earlier this week. Clark's name has already been mentioned by NFL media in trade conversations.
When the Broncos lost to the Jets on Sunday afternoon, Clark tweeted out the following message: "Make something shake ASAP!"
Chiefs fans took this to mean that Clark wants out of Denver. They also alerted Jones to the matter, who seemed to go along with the idea of bringing Clark back to Kansas City.

"Chris make this happen," one user wrote.
"I'm trying," Jones replied.
Jones and Clark, of course, spent four seasons together in Kansas City from 2019-2022. Clark started 55 regular-season games, recording 127 total tackles, 35 tackles for loss, and 23.5 sacks during that span. That doesn't include the playoffs, where Clark recorded 32 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in 12 games started.
Do the Chiefs need Clark? Adding to the defensive line is probably not a priority with Charles Omenihu slated to return from suspension as early as Oct. 13. That said, the pass rush in Kansas City hasn't exactly been dominant. They've struggled to get pressure without sending the blitz, and that was very noticeable in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings.
If the Chiefs were somehow able to pull off the rare and unlikely in-division trade to acquire Clark, it'd be the second time they traded for him. Kansas City sent a 2019 first-round pick, and a 2020 second-round pick, and swapped 2019 third-round picks in a trade for Clark with the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2019 NFL season. This time around, it's hard to image a situation where it would cost more than a late-round draft choice to acquire Clark, even as a division rival.
Chiefs open as two-score favorites over Broncos in Week 5
The Kansas City Chiefs are favored by two scores against the Denver Broncos on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season.
