As far as I'm concerned, Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid had already cemented himself as the greatest head coach in franchise history after the win in Super Bowl LVII. However, with the Week 12 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Reid claimed one final piece of history that makes his claim undisputed.
The 31-17 victory gave Reid 125 career regular season wins as the head coach of the Chiefs dating back to the 2013 NFL season. He's now passed Hank Stram (124) for the most regular-season wins by a head coach in franchise history. It feels like only yesterday that Reid passed Marty Schottenheimer (101) to claim second place in all-time wins, yet here we are.
For decades, Stram was revered as the greatest head coach in franchise history, and for good reason. He had the only Super Bowl, and he had the winningest record. But now, Reid has the Super Bowl rings and the regular season wins, and it doesn't look like he's slowing down anytime soon.
The best part about it all, Reid isn't just the regular season win leader for Kansas City. He still holds the regular season win record for the Philadelphia Eagles, too. He's the only coach to be the regular season wins leader for two separate teams.
This all only further strengthens his eventual case for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It's no longer a question of whether he will be a Hall of Famer, but rather when. With an NFL accolade like this, I think a first-ballot situation won't be out of the question.
