The Kansas City Chiefs continue to get positive injury news ahead of their Week 1 tilt against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, Sept. 7.

Andy Reid had no new injuries to report ahead of Chiefs practice on Sunday, though he did say new DT Neil Farrell Jr. was excused from practice for personal reasons. On the current and most notable injuries the team is dealing with, Reid had good news to share.

Speaking on WR Kadarius Toney, who had a knee injury surgically repaired earlier this offseason, Reid said that early signs have indicated he should be ready to play in Week 1.

"Right now, he's good to go," Reid said. "He's moving around pretty good."

As for starting CB L'Jarius Sneed, Reid echoed similar sentiments.

"Yeah," Reid said of Sneed. "We'll take it day by day, but right now I'd tell you they're good to go."

While he suggested the two would be ready to play, Reid cautioned the team is taking things one day at a time as it relates to Toney and Sneed's practice and play status.

"So, well just he's practicing," Reid said of Toney. "He practiced the other day. Fast. And he'll get in there today and do the same thing and we'll just take it day by day to make sure he's feeling alright in his leg. I'd tell you the same thing about (L'Jarius) Sneed. I mean, it's the same deal. We're just going to play it by ear."

Patrick Mahomes is excited by the prospect of getting Toney back in the offense. He spoke on what that'd mean for the team in Week 1 and what he's seen from Toney in practice so far.

"I mean, obviously a positive," Mahomes said. "The talent that he has (and) the competitor that he is. To be able to go out there and have that weapon would definitely be a huge positive. He's done a great job in the practices that he's been in so far and I'm looking for him to continue to step up and be even better and look like his normal self. Which, I mean, honestly, just going out there the first few days and seeing him, he looks like KT (Kadarius Toney). I'm excited for that. He put a lot of time into that rehab process so that he can get himself ready, hopefully, to play in this first week."

Should Toney play in Week 1, don't expect an outsized portion of snaps. He played just eight combined snaps in Super Bowl LVII and made a massive impact in that game.

"We've got enough guys, where we rotate anyways," Reid said. "So, I think he'll be alright."
