Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided his usual postgame injury update following a loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 8.

Late in the third quarter, Chiefs LB Willie Gay Jr. was spotted on the sideline getting treatment from the athletic training staff. He was then spotted watching his teammates without a helmet, indicating that he wouldn't be going back into the game.

The team announced before the fourth quarter started that Gay Jr. was questionable to return. Reid confirmed that Gay Jr. was really the only player to suffer a significant injury.

"The only injury really is Willie Gay," Reid said. "The rest of the guys will be sore, but not (major injuries). Willie has a tailbone issue. We've just got to check it out and see where we are at with that."

The Chiefs' linebacker depth is already hurting with Nick Bolton's placement on injured reserve on Saturday. Bolton must miss three more games at a minimum before he's allowed to be designated to return from injured reserve. Drue Tranquill also left briefly during the course of this loss. Hopefully, further examination reveals that Gay Jr. won't need to miss an extended amount of time.

Reid did not mention Patrick Mahomes, who suffered a contusion on his left (non-throwing) hand during the game and had to wear a glove and later bandages. Mahomes told reporters that he didn't even notice it at first and thinks he got stepped on. It appears that this is a minor injury and shouldn't impact his status long-term.
