The Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Denver Broncos. There, we got it out of the way to start this article, as I'm sure you all have already heard it everywhere in the last 12 hours. Every media and news outlet covering the NFL is talking about it.
It was a terrible game, as we saw some things that we don't see often, especially out of a team like the Chiefs, who are as disciplined as they come. The Chiefs don't play like how we saw them play often.
In fact, it was something that even Andy Reid, the Chiefs head coach who has been a head coach for 25 seasons now, has never seen what he saw on Sunday.
"Five turnovers," Andy Reid started after the loss to the Broncos. "I think that's the obvious. Three in the red zone; 17 points we gave them really off turnovers, great field position. I take full responsibility for it. You know, the guys, I saw things tonight that I, on this afternoon, that I haven't seen before, from the guys. So, that's my responsibility to make sure they're right, and we weren't right today."
The Chiefs turnover issue was certainly the main talking point of the day regarding why the Chiefs lost. However, it can't be overstated how bad the receivers were once again for the Chiefs. Of course, you have the dropped touchdown by Skyy Moore, who may or may not have had his arm held by Patrick Surtain and just the overall issue of getting open by everyone not named Travis Kellce or Rashee Rice.
Then there is the muffed punt by Mecole Hardman, as soon as the Chiefs defense got a stop, giving the offense a chance to go and take the lead. There were so many things that could have gone wrong in this game, and yet, it felt like every one of them did go wrong.
