The Kansas City Chiefs are still one of the best teams in the league despite the struggles they have had thus far. Mainly, it's been the defense somewhat winning them games. The offense has stuttered at times. They have a huge issue on that side of the ball, and it's come in the most important part of the field – the red zone.

They are struggling to score in the red zone. Mahomes, too, as he isn't exempt from their woes. The Chiefs have to find a way to fix this issue, as they can't be scoring just 19 points against the worst defense in football in the Denver Broncos, in which they extended the win streak to 16.

Hopefully, we will see a glimpse of the Red Zone offense we saw last season, which was one of the best in the league. However, the Chiefs aren't the only team in the league suffering in the red zone. We are learning that it's just a down year there in general.

Chiefs' red zone woes are an issue for the entire NFL

According to Fantasy Pros, Mahomes completes 50% of his passes in the red zone this year and even has an interception there. The Chiefs are 17th in the league in the red zone scoring percentage, scoring just 54% of the time they make that trip. That isn't good at all. However, the entire league is struggling there.

Nate Tice of The Athletic tweeted: "Offenses are currently scoring touchdowns on 53.3% of their red zone opportunities—the lowest rate through six weeks since 2011."

It feels like a down year, to be honest, and not just for the Chiefs but around the entire league. There is no longer an undefeated team through Week 6, and there really isn't a team that you can claim is the best in the league. There are several, but not one definite team.

The Chiefs still need to get this issue fixed, though. As far as their offense as a whole, though, it's getting better.

"I like the way the young receivers have come along," Andy Reid said on Monday. "The offensive line, every rep they get, they're improving. I think we're putting up a lot of yards; we've just got to eliminate some of the penalties during crucial situations, we've got to take care of the red zone, and do our job there, but sure, I like the progress we're making. We just have to tighten up a couple of things there."

The Chiefs will get it together; they always do.
