The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off one of their best drafts in recent years. Well, maybe, we are not sure just yet. Last year's draft could be the best in recent years with Nick Bolton, Creed Humphrey, and Trey Smith, just to name a few, all making huge contributions to the Chiefs last year.

This year, the Chiefs were able to grab some players that were available way past where they were projected to go.

Just like Trey Smith, there is a lineman that was drafted late, who could make a big impact on the Chiefs. General manager Brett Veach thinks so as well.

Chiefs Kinnard gets high praise from Veach

"Whenever you can play right tackle successfully in the SEC, more often than not, that will translate." – Brett Veach on Darian Kinnard.

Darian Kinnard, the tackle out of Kentucky, was selected with the 145th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. While he may not start right away, he has the potential to be a great player down the road.

The Kansas City Chiefs revamped their whole offensive line last off-season and it worked. Patrick Mahomes ran away from pressure less last season. Also, the run blocking was much better than before.

The offensive line is in a good place right now. However, with one play, someone can go down. Therefore, it is always good to have depth on the offensive line, an area that has injuries more than any other position group in the NFL.

Having a guy like Darian Kinnard that can play both tackle and guard will be crucial. Veach made it clear that Kinnard will play tackle in Kansas City, but the former Wildcat could also move to guard if it's needed. That versatility can pay off big moving down the road and the fact that Kinnard is a former Consensus All-American just screams value, at the end of the day.

Getting praise like that from the general manager is great. Especially, when you think of the praise he is getting and the offensive line that is on the roster. Veach believes that Kinnard can compete at the position, and hopefully, he will.
