Kansas City Chiefs DL Charles Omenihu got the worst possible news on Monday, learning that he'd suffered an ACL tear in the AFC Championship Game win against the Baltimore Ravens.

He helped the team secure a Super Bowl berth, but he won't get a chance to participate in the game against the San Francisco 49ers due to the injury. It's extra difficult knowing that the 49ers are his former team. He now begins the long road of rehab and recovery, which will likely bleed into the 2024 NFL season.

Omenihu took to the social media app X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday evening to share a message with his fans. He thanked the Chiefs Kingdom for uplifting him during this tough time and promised a triumphant return, along with sharing a relevant biblical quote.

"Thank you all for the support. God makes no mistakes. We were all a witness to my adversity earlier this year, and I came back better than ever. I promise it will be no different this time. Football, 90 will see you again till then much love to everyone and God bless."

Omenihu mentions his adversity early in the year, which was to be away from his new team while serving a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. He was a bit behind the eight ball when he returned, but he managed to finish the season stronger than ever with eight sacks (including the postseason).

His recovery timeline has him returning to action in early November next season, which is right around the time he returned from suspension this year. Hopefully, he stays true to his vow and can replicate his success in a shortened regular season once again in 2024.
