As if things weren't bad enough for the Kansas City Chiefs, they just got a whole lot worse in Week 16 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The offense for the Chiefs has been an abject disaster on Monday, and the only member to produce points in the first three quarters has now been ruled out of the game due to a concussion. Isiah Pacheco scored a 12-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter of the game, but after losing his helmet on a five-yard reception late in the third quarter, he was shaken up and was seen clutching his head after the play.
There was an inadvertent collision with teammate Creed Humphrey, which saw Pacheco checked out by the independent neuro consultant in the blue medical tent on the sideline. He was promptly ruled questionable to return and downgraded to out after he was evaluated for a concussion.
To add insult to injury, there was a sideline equipment malfunction that summed up the Chiefs' day on offense.
This is a personnel loss that the Chiefs can't afford right now, especially if it extends beyond Week 16. The offense is already struggling mightily for Kansas City, and they're already down one of their weapons at the running back position with Jerick McKinnon heading to injured reserve on Christmas Eve.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire has proven capable over the past few weeks, but if they need to rely on La'Mical Perine or elevate practice squad running back Keaontay Ingram, they might be in trouble. Pacheco has been the engine of this offense for more weeks than not, and without him, they'll be relying even more heavily on Patrick Mahomes to make some magic happen.
