The Kansas City Chiefs were missing star players on both sides of the ball as preparation for the Los Angeles Chargers got underway on Wednesday.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided his pre-practice injury update, announcing that four players would sit out of today's practice.
"As far as the guys not practicing today, Chris Jones has a groin spasm, he won't practice," Reid said. "Isiah (Pacheco) with a quad contusion. Rashee (Rice) has a little bit of a hamstring that he tweaked in the game. Then, L'Jarius (Sneed) with the calf (injury), we're going to give him time to let that heal."
There's little to play for in Week 18 as the Chiefs already have the No. 3 seed in the AFC conference locked up and they can't drop any lower or go any higher. Andy Reid already confirmed that Patrick Mahomes will sit out against the Chargers, but who will join him?
Who will and won't play in Week 18
Several of the players listed above have milestones or incentives on the line in Week 18. Will they have an opportunity to play and reach those milestones or incentives on Sunday afternoon? Andy Reid says it all depends on what they're chasing and whether they're healthy enough to go.
“I want them to rehab and get themselves ready to go as needed," Reid said. "No different, stay aggressive on the rehab part of it and we go from there.”
Travis Kelce is dealing with a neck injury and needs 16 yards to go to reach 1,000 yards for the eighth consecutive season. Will Andy Reid allow him to play and get it?
“We’ll see, we’ll see how all that goes," he said.
