The Kansas City Chiefs continued preparations for the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7 with practice on Thursday. The team held a 10-10-10 practice on Wednesday, which means that Thursday's practice was more intense by design.
Chiefs PR head Ted Crews updated reporters ahead of Thursday's media availability explaining that the team's expected practice participation was status quo. That means that WR Justin Watson was the only player held out of practice entirely, while everyone else participated in some capacity.
That includes newly returned WR Mecole Hardman, who was spotted at practice wearing a new jersey number.
Chiefs TE Travis Kelce's ankle remains heavily taped
Kelce gave the Chiefs Kingdom a scare in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings when he had to leave the game ahead of halftime due to a non-contact ankle injury. Not only did Kelce return to that game and finish it, but he was able to play the following week on a short week of practice. He was questionable heading into the game, but he ultimately played against the Broncos and played a key role in the win.
Kelce recorded nine receptions for 124 yards, including over 100 yards in the first half alone, but the extra rest following the game doesn't appear to have helped his ankle along much in its recovery, at least not to the naked eye. On Wednesday and Thursday, Kelce was spotted with a heavy tape job on the ankle in question. It's hard to say for certain that he's 100%, but his practice participation remains full and he didn't once mention the injury on his New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce.
