The Kansas City Chiefs have had wide receiver issues all year, whether it be drops, no separation in their routes, or a few other things. But something has to be done, and with one of their best receivers on the team, Justin Watson, going down, the Chiefs had to do something quick.

So, they did what they know best – they made a trade for a receiver, something they did last year at the deadline, too, grabbing Kadarius Toney. They traded for Mecole Hardman, who was on the team last season but chose to sign with the New York Jets in the offseason.

It wasn't working out between him and the Jets, as they weren't playing him. Now, he is somewhere he will definitely be used. But things have changed since the last time he was on the team, or six months ago, I should say.

"I think (I'm) more mature mentally," Hardman told reporters on Thursday. "Going to a different organization that is different than what you're used to, what you've been used to for four years, kind of just shows you the difference in certain situations you've been in and how to approach and do certain things. I think mentally maturity; I think I've grown and definitely learned a lot from (Jets QB) Aaron (Rodgers) how to be a better receiver and see things in different ways.

"That's a guy right there that has a lot of experience; 19 years, I believe he's been in the league, so just learning from him and seeing how he goes about things and how serious he is in certain things teaches you how to be a better pro as well. I think I kind of learned that being over there."

Hardman was the ultimate utility guy for the Chiefs last season before he was hurt. He caught punt returns, scored receiving touchdowns, and even a few rushing touchdowns on jet sweep plays. Against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7 last season, he had one receiving touchdown and two rushing touchdowns against one of the best defenses in the league.

The Chiefs are hoping they can get something similar out of him with his return. They need it badly. The offense hasn't been connecting like we have expected it to, and getting a guy in who already knows the offense, is fast, and is versatile is huge. He plans to play on Sunday against the Chargers, but let's just see how that goes. Now, though, he will be wearing a different number.
