The Kansas City Chiefs may have their starting running back ready for contact after training camp ends.

James Palmer of NFL Network states that Pacheco should be cleared for contact by August 20. His hand is said to be good, but the shoulder is left to be cleared by the training staff.

However, NFL Network was at the Chiefs' camp and actually spoke to Pacheco. They asked him how he was feeling overall at this time during his recovery process.

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco is coming along

"I'm feeling phenomenal," Pacheco said to Palmer on TV. "I'm excited with the routine that I chose to work out with the program and, you know, especially coming off of two injuries, just looking forward to finding ways to get better each and every day. [I'm] Very close. I'm kind of a little jealous of, you know, the guys that are actually getting in there and moving around with different positions for me; it's just finding those, those ways and just pinpointing the details to find ways to get better at my game even on the side, just taking notes, you know, just finding ways to, to get those extra reps that are not in on the sideline."

While Pacheco has assured us he is fine and doing well, the August 20 date still means he may miss most of the preseason. The second preseason game of the season is August 19, which means he is a day short of being cleared to play in Weeks 2 and 3 of the preseason.

Luckily for the Chiefs, they have found a guy who has had a similar emergence into the scene as Pacheco did during training camp last season. Deneric Prince, the undrafted free-agent rookie running back out of Tulsa, is turning heads.
