The Kansas City Chiefs appear to have a special connection brewing between one of their newest receivers and their star quarterback.

You probably haven't seen many clips from Chiefs OTAs so far because only one practice session is open to the media per week. Even then, media are only permitted to record during the earliest portion of practice with players warming up and doing individual drills. That means the Chiefs Kingdom relies on the team media to give them their fix of actual Chiefs football, or at least the closest thing you'll get to it in the offseason.

In one of the first videos the team shared, the Chiefs showcased the connection between Hollywood Brown and Patrick Mahomes, who are actively trying to jumpstart the deep passing game in Kansas City

Now, before the hype train reaches unstoppable proportions there are a couple of things to consider here:

  1. This appears to be a drill vs. air because there are no white jerseys (defense) on the practice field.
  2. This is padless OTA practices during May.

At the same time, you have to consider Andy Reid's comments about the growing chemistry between Mahomes and Brown.

"You guys (the media) got a chance to see it for the first time today. Hollywood does a nice job out there as a receiver. It looks like he and Pat (Mahomes) are developing a nice little chemistry there. We’ll just take it step by step as we go."

This could become one of the go-to connections for the Chiefs' offense during the 2024 NFL season, especially if they're serious about emphasizing that aspect of the passing game. You could hear Mitch Holthus often yell, "Touch-down Holly-wood."
