The Chiefs are one of the NFL's oldest, most historic franchises and Arrowhead Stadium is one the premier stadiums in terms of historic venues.
However, even the most legendary of locations needs an upgrade every now and then. Just ask the Buffalo Bills and the Orchard Park area.
But could said upgrade involve the Chiefs moving out of Kansas City, Missouri?
The option is on the table, according to team president Mark Donovan.
Per The Ringer's Kevin Clark, Donovan told the media Tuesday that the team has considered relocation options in the state of Kansas. They've listened to pitches -although it's unclear how many- from developers associated with the state.
This obviously means the Chiefs would leave the city of KC and move to wherever their new home is in Kansas – something even non-Chiefs fans probably think of as unimaginable.
The Chiefs' lease runs out in 2031, so there's still a ton of time left to figure things out. Additional renovation talks have picked up over the last few months due to recent upgrades to the Chargers' and Raiders' homes, SoFi and Allegiant Stadium, however. Therefore, there is some kind of change in store for Arrowhead in the near future.
To what extent and how it happens remains to be seen. But to completely uproot the Chiefs from their home of almost 50 years would be an incredibly drastic renovation that few people saw coming.
