Late Sunday evening CBS Sports' Josina Anderson reported that Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice had retained counsel after he was sought in connection to a six-car accident in the Dallas, Texas area over the weekend.

Anderson reported that a statement would be coming sometime on Monday, April 1. Well, that statement has finally arrived via Texas State Senator Royce West of West & Associates LLP. ESPN's Adam Schefter shared the statement on Twitter (X).

"On behalf of Rashee Rice, his thoughts are with everyone impacted by the automobile accident on Saturday. Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly. Any and all requests for comment can be directed to his attorney Mr. Royce West of West & Associates, LLP."

It's good to know that Rice is cooperating fully and taking the necessary steps to clear up whatever happened over the weekend. Obviously, this statement doesn't add much in the way of clarit

Rice's lawyer is the Managing Partner of West & Associates, LLP, and has been practicing law for nearly 40 years. He is also a Texas State Senator serving the people of the state's 23rd Senatorial District. Here's a snippet from West's bio
