Retirement is on the mind of the football-watching world with the news surrounding Pete Carroll, Nick Saban, and Bill Belichick this week.

A pair of Kansas City Chiefs were pelted with questions about their future during Thursday's press conferences. It all began with Chiefs HC Andy Reid, who has dealt with questions about his retirement dating back to Super Bowl LIV. He expected that he'd get some questions after he was asked about Carroll and Belichick stepping down as head coaches for their respective teams.

"I haven't even thought about that," Reid said in regards to retirement. "I'm thinking about one thing (The Dolphins). I figured that would come up as you guys were asking these questions because I'm old, but I'm not that old."

Reid, of course, will turn 66 in March. Carroll, Saban, and Belichick are all in their 70s.

There's also a Chiefs player who has dealt with rampant retirement rumors lately.Part of that probably has something to do with Travis Kelce's high-profile relationship with music icon Taylor Swift. Part of it also has to do with the fact that he's finding success outside of football as a podcast host, and even as an actor.

"Do you guys think about retirement," Kelce asked, rhetorically. "Am I the only one in this boat? Whoever is not thinking about stuff down the road. . . I just have no reason to stop playing football, man. I love it. We still have success (and) come in with the right mindset. I just love the challenge it brings me to be at my best. Like I said, I have no desire to stop anytime soon."

There is no lingering doubt as they head into the postseason and compete for another Super Bowl. Feelings change with time, but as things currently stand, Chiefs Kingdom can expect both Kelce and Reid back for the 2024 NFL season.
