The Kansas City Chiefs got the short end of the stick on Monday Night Football when the refs decided to give the Raiders everything in the first half.
First, it was the blatant pass interference call on rookie cornerback Jaylen Watson who was playing the ball against Davante Adams. Then, I don't think I need to say it, but the blatant roughing the passer call on Chris Jones who was falling on Derek Carr.
The Chiefs just couldn't get anything going in the first due to penalties that were not penalties, for the most part anyways.
So, someone on Twitter had the bright idea to think about the last time the lead referee, Carl Cheffers, blew a game for the Chiefs. Turns out, in the 2016 divisional game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he did the same thing.
Chiefs' star tight end Travis Kelce knew all too well how this game would go, as he had some words about the officiating in 2016.
It appears the Chiefs have a clear history with Cheffers. It also appears that Arrowhead Stadium had him so shaken in the second half, that his voice started cracking during a call. But, what do I know? The game wasn't called great at all in the first half. This history could show why.
