Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce just caught a record-setting touchdown reception, but the call by broadcaster Ian Eagle might have been the most impressive thing about it.
Patrick Mahomes found Kelce in the endzone against the Jacksonville Jaguars, marking the 47th score involving the two star players. According to Chiefs public relations, this broke a tie with Len Dawson and Otis Taylor (46) for the most touchdowns between a quarterback and pass-catcher in franchise history.
The call for the touchdown didn't make reference to this fact, though. Instead, it was a reference to a Taylor Swift song. This comes after a news report broke that Swift and Kelce were, "quietly hanging out." Well, it's not so quiet anymore.
Check out the call from Eagle here:
The reference is to Swift's song "Blank Space" which is one of her most popular songs. It's her third-most-played song on Spotify, and it comes from her popular "1989" album. Kelce, of course, was born in 1989, as was Swift.
It seems that as long as rumors are swirling about Kelce and Swift, he won't escape these types of references.
