Chiefs, cook, bye, playoffs

The Kansas City Chiefs were able to get a win this past weekend and advance in the playoffs. Oh, wait, they didn't play in the first round. However, they still got a win, even with the bye week.

The Chiefs worked their tails off to get that number one seed bye week, and it is going to come in handy later for sure. They get extra rest and extra time to prepare for their next opponent. Sure, they don't really know who they will be playing, but they do know the pool of teams they could possibly play, and start putting together and installing game plans based on those teams.

But, that isn't how or why they got a win this last week.

The Chiefs got a win over the bye week because of who they get to play. As we all figured out Sunday night while the Cincinnati Bengals were barely beating a depleted Ravens team, the Chiefs would play Jacksonville on Saturday.

Here is why that is a win, though. And, just to be clear, this is not saying this is why the Chiefs will win, as the Jaguars could very well beat the Chiefs, this is just saying why it's better for them.

The Chiefs and Jaguars already played each other this season. That game didn't end pretty for the road team, the Jaguars, who lost 27-17. If you were watching that game though, then you likely saw that it wasn't as close as the score would indicate.

The Chiefs get a win because let's face it, we would all rather see the Chiefs play the Jaguars than the Chargers, who lost by a combined six points both times they played Kansas City.

Kansas City, and Andy Reid specifically, know how the Jaguars play, as they played them already, and Reid coached Doug Pederson, the Jaguars coach.

Either way, after seeing what the Jaguars were able to do on Saturday, I think this matchup could end up being a fun one.
