The holdout saga between the Kansas City Chiefs and star DT Chris Jones has finally come to an end, just as ESPN's Adam Schefter predicted it would.

We're not any closer to Jones being a "Chief for Life." The two sides have agreed to a reworked one-year contract according to multiple reports. The new deal includes no new years added, but a gang of incentives, where Jones can earn more money in 2023. Keep in mind, Jones missed all of training camp, the entire preseason, and watched his teammates play from a suite in Week 1

Now, he'll return to action just in time to practice and play in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This is Jones' third contract with the Chiefs, including his rookie deal and the four-year extension worth over $80 million back in 2020. Of course, this one is not a long-term extension.

A former second-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the 29-year-old interior defensive lineman has started in 99 combined regular-season and postseason games for the Chiefs. During that span, Jones has amassed 256 combined tackles, 70 tackles for loss, 67 sacks, and 42 passes batted. He received his first career First-Team All-Pro nod last season after leading the Kansas City defense with 15.5 sacks. He's been selected for the Pro Bowl on four different occasions and has two Super Bowl titles under his belt with the Chiefs.
