The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly made their franchise tag decision.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Chiefs will use the franchise tag on offensive tackle Orlando Brown.

Brown, according to Schefter, is the first free agent this offseason to receive the franchise tag.

According to Spotrac, the franchise tag for Brown should be around $16.5 million.

This is an easy decision for the Chiefs. Brown proved to be one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL after arriving in Kansas City before the 2021 season, via a trade with the Baltimore Ravens.

Tagging Brown will give the Chiefs some added time to work out a contract extension with the Pro-Bowl offensive tackle.

Spotrac projects that Brown will receive a seven-year contract worth $22.7 million annually.

For reference, San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams was the highest-paid offensive tackle in 2021, making just over $23 million.
