The Kansas City Chiefs said goodbye to several of their own during the 2024 NFL free agency period, many of whom were homegrown talents.

A former 2020 NFL draft pick in the second round out of Mississippi State, now-former Chiefs LB Willie Gay Jr. landed with the Saints in pursuit of a starting opportunity. He'll join a handful of his former teammates in New Orleans, but he won't forget where he first made his NFL home.

Gay took to Twitter (now X) on Wednesday, to pen a message to Chiefs Kingdom, thanking the fans, the organization, and more for making his time in Kansas City so welcoming.

Chiefs Kingdom!!!! Man, I'm so blessed you took a chance on this country boy from Mississippi. Lord knows I was so scared moving 10 hours away from home, lol, but the Amazing fans and people in general here made my transition so much easier. People of Kansas City, I love you all. To The Hunt Family, Brett Veach, Coach Spags, and my favorite, lol, BIG RED, THANK YOU GUYS for accepting me for who I was coming in as just a young, energetic football-loving Young man. Over four years, I've been to 3 Super Bowls and four AFC championships and won 2 rings. Ok, I'm done bragging , but I’m so thankful for the Chiefs organization. I LOVE YALL FOREVER. Now I have to see if I can get my son to stop watching and singing the Red Kingdom videos . I'm so excited for the next chapter of my career #WHODAT NATION it's go time.

During his tenure with the Chiefs, Gay brought great energy on the football field, on the sideline, and in the locker room. His presence will be missed and his contributions to three Super Bowl appearances and two victories will never be forgotten.
