The Los Angeles Chargers put on an embarrassing performance on Thursday night against the Las Vegas Raiders. And that has prompted them to make some major changes.

The team announced on Friday that they have fired head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco.

This is the third head coach to be fired midseason during 2023, with Panthers letting head coach Frank Reich go, and the Raiders parting ways with head coach Josh McDaniels and general manger Dave Ziegler.

The Chargers released a statement after the news broke.

Following their 62-21 loss to the Raiders, Staley fielded numerous questions on his future. And made a plea to remain the head coach.

"I know the type of coach that I am," he said after the game. "I believe in myself."

"Games like this happen in the NFL, to every coach that's ever coached in this league," Staley added. "You can look at any great coach that's ever coached in the league, sometimes games like this happen. And I don't need to retrace history, but it's part of sports."

However, the Chargers decided they had seen enough.

Staley finished with a 24-24 record during his three year tenure with Los Angeles.

This is thought to be one of the most coveted jobs available, with the new head coach getting the opportunity to work with Justin Herbert.

Staley has reportedly been on the hot seat for a while now, so this is a move has been coming. The Chargers currently sit in last place in the AFC West with a 5-9 record.

The Chargers announced that an interim head coach and general manager will be announced shortly.
