This past weekend was an important one for the Tennessee Vols.

2023 five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava was in town with his family to take an extended look at Tennessee.

Iamaleava, 6-foot-5/195 lbs from Downey, CA, is ranked as the No. 7 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class (247Sports composite rankings).

The talented quarterback is the Vols' top 2023 recruiting target. He would be the crown jewel of Josh Heupel's second class at Tennessee.

On Sunday, after three days on Rocky Top, Iamaleava spoke to VolQuest about his visit. He had mostly great things to say about the Vols, the UT fan base, and the city of Knoxville.

Iamaleava also revealed a bit of potentially exciting news for Tennessee fans.

According to the five-star recruit, there are new uniforms "coming in" for the Volunteers.

Iamaleava noted that he prefers Tennessee's black-on-black uniforms, which were unveiled last season against South Carolina (they were also used in the Vols' game against Georgia). It's unclear what UT's plans are for the new uniforms. But if they aren't black on black, they might want to call an audible and go that direction (if an elite quarterback like Iamaleava wants black uniforms, then I'd get some more black uniforms).

Anyone who thinks that uniforms don't matter to recruits should listen to Iamaleava's interview with VolQuest.

Traditionalists may not love the Vols' alternate uniforms, but recruits certainly do. And ultimately, Tennessee needs elite recruits on the roster in order to win championships. If that means black uniforms from time to time (or smokey gray uniforms), I think it's more than worth it.
