The Tennessee Vols basketball program will have a few new faces this fall.

Guard Dalton Knecht will be one of those faces.

Knecht transferred to Tennessee from Northern Colorado earlier this offseason.

This past season at Northern Colorado, Knecht averaged 20.2 points per game (best in the Big Sky conference). The 6-foot-6 guard also finished sixth in the conference in rebounds per game (7.2 rebounds per game) and second in minutes played per game (35.3).

Suffice it to say, the Vols are getting a player that can score and can play nearly 40 minutes a night if needed.

Sacramento State head coach David Patrick spoke to 247Sports recently about some of this offseason's top transfer players. And he thinks Knecht can be a Tyler Herro type player for the Vols.

Herro, a former Kentucky standout, was the No. 13 overall selection in the 2019 NBA Draft.

From 247Sports: David Patrick: “He reminds me of — don’t take this the wrong way — he’s a Tyler Herro type. He can handle the ball, you can play him as a big 4 man because he can space the floor and shoot. He comes off screens ready to shoot. What will help him at the next level, usually those transfer-up guys aren’t quite as athletic, but he’s athletic. He’ll go dunk on you which is surprising, you know? For someone in this league, the Big Sky, the ability to shoot and finish above the rim with that size? And he’s not a skinny guy either. Give them credit and their staff credit for finding the diamond in the rough and developing it."

Tennessee will once again be viewed as a Final Four contender and Knecht is a big reason why. If Knecht can help the Vols' offense get to the next level, then the Vols will be a tough team to beat next March.
