One of the Tennessee Vols' top 2025 recruiting targets — arguably their top remaining recruiting target — said this week that UT is the program he was the most excited about coming out of January's no contact period.
2025 five-star offensive lineman David Sanders, the No. 2 overall player in the nation, told Rivals.com this week that it's "correct" that Tennessee's the program he's most excited about entering the spring months.
""I would say that's about correct," said Sanders when asked if Tennessee's the most program he's most excited about coming out of the no contact period. "The amount of effort they put in recruiting me within this last year, I would say they've been recruiting me the best out of anybody.
Sanders, who also said that he thinks he future is very bright for the Vols thanks in large part to quarterback Nico Iamaleava and 2025 Vols quarterback commit George MacIntyre, noted that Tennessee has done an "amazing" job recruiting him.
"They've done an amazing job getting to know me as a person, getting to know me as a player, and getting to know my family as well," said Sanders. "Their overall way of recruiting has been amazing and I just love everybody inside the program as far as offensive line coach, receiver coaches, the general managers, and everybody. It has been amazing.”

The Vols face some stiff competition for Sanders. Georgia and Clemson are currently viewed as Tennessee's top competition in this recruiting battle. South Carolina, Alabama, and Ohio State are also in the mix.
Sanders, who visited Georgia this past weekend, is set to visit Tennessee the weekend of April 12.
MacIntyre, who is working hard to help the Vols land Sanders, is expected to be in Knoxville the weekend of Sanders' upcoming visit.
Sanders is a player that Tennessee badly wants to land. But there's still a long way to go until December when the five-star offensive lineman is expected to sign. Georgia and Clemson are going to continue their full court press on Sanders, which means the Vols have their work cut out for themselves in this battle.
The good news, though, is that it sounds like Tennessee is one of the few programs that has a legitimate shot to land Sanders. The Vols' coaching staff just needs to continue to build its relationship with Sanders and hope for the best. This is a battle that won't be over until pen meets paper during the early signing period.
