A couple of former Tennessee Vols teammates will be reuniting in the NFL in 2023.

Former Vols defensive backs Emmanuel Moseley and Cam Sutton both signed free-agent deals with the Detroit Lions last week.

Moseley, who is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered during the 2022 season, signed a one-year with the Lions while Sutton signed a three-year deal.

After signing with Detroit, Moseley appeared on MLive’s Dungeon of Doom podcast where he was asked about playing with former Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker at Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC.

Moseley started at quarterback as a senior at Dudley and Hooker, a freshman at the time, was his backup.

"I wish I had like some funny stories," said Moseley when asked about Hooker. "I don't have funny stories, but I know Hendon Hooker was a hell of a basketball player. He really could have made it in basketball, you know, but football was the way that he did it. I just love Hendon, man, because he's such a humble kid. Very humble kid. And he's been through things. And like you said, he's overcame those things."

"What he did last year was amazing, just to see him go out there and perform at the level he performed," added Moseley. "And now he's got another thing in front of him with his knee (Hooker's torn ACL). And I know what type of player he is and I know what type of kid he is. I know how he was raised with his parents. So I know he's gonna overcome that. And when he gets to the league, he's going to do some serious things."

Hooker said last fall that when he decided to leave Virginia Tech after the 2020 season, Moseley was one of the friends he called for advice (and Moseley had good things to say about Tennessee).

The Lions could use a quarterback with Jared Goff serving as a "bridge" to a longterm answer at quarterback in Detroit. If Hooker falls to the Lions at No. 48 overall, it could be hard for Detroit to pass on the former Heisman Trophy contender.
