An ESPN personality made an incredibly bold statement about Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton this week.

ESPN's Matt Barrie said on the "The Matt Barrie Show" this past week that he thinks Milton has No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick type talent.

“Joe Milton is the most dangerous unknown in the country,” said Barrie. “If you look at him as an athlete, and you look at his arm as a quarterback, it’s first overall pick first, first-round pick type talent."

“If him being patient and waiting his turn behind Hendon Hooker, if he legitimately harnessed the time, the film, and the improvement, he could easily be the Heisman Trophy winner, and he can easily be a top 10 pick in the NFL [Draft]," added Barrie. "I find him so fascinating and frightening because everything’s there. And if Heupel finds a way to get it out of him, look out, because he could be the most dangerous quarterback in the country."

The question surrounding Milton all offseason has been whether or not the redshirt senior from Florida can finally put it all together in 2023.

Milton looked good in the opportunities he received last season — specifically in his starts against Vanderbilt and Clemson. When you combine the improvement we've already seen from Milton since he arrived at Tennessee in 2021 with Vols head coach Josh Heupel's history of developing quarterbacks, it's easy to see why UT fans are feeling extremely optimistic about the quarterback situation on Rocky Top this fall.

2022 was a special season for the Vols, but the 2023 season could end up being just as special.
