It's well-documented how impressive the Tennessee Vols' offense has been in year one of the Josh Heupel era.

Tennessee never averaged more than 24.2 points per game under previous Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt.

Last season, UT averaged only 21.5 points per game (No. 109 in the nation).

Defenders of Pruitt (yes, there are a handful of those folks that exist) like to point out that Tennessee played a 10-game SEC schedule in 2020.

That's true (though it doesn't explain the Vols' poor offensive efforts in 2018 and 2019). But it's not like Tennessee is padding its stats this season against non-conference cupcakes.

CBS Sports' Barrett Sallee pointed out on Tuesday that UT leads the SEC in yards per play in conference games.

Tennessee has an explosive offense — it doesn't matter who they're playing.

The Vols' offense has a big test this weekend against Georgia, one of the best college defenses we've ever seen.

But just like going up against the Bulldogs' stout defense will be a major test for Tenessee, the Vols' explosive offense will be a major test for Georgia.

This will be the best offense that UGA has faced all season.

The advantage still goes to Georgia, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tennessee puts up more points against the Bulldogs than any other team has this season.
