In a recent appearance on Ramon, Kayla, & Will with 104.5 The Zone, ESPN's senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler identified former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy as a "prime candidate" to be the Tennessee Titans' next offensive coordinator.

Nagy was the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2016-2017 before getting the Bears' head coaching job entering the 2018 season. Nagy spent four years in Chicago, where he had a 34-31 record and made two playoff appearances before being let go following the 2021 season. He is now back on staff with Andy Reid's Chiefs as a Senior Assistant and quarterbacks coach for Patrick Mahomes.

"I've gotten some sense that Matt Nagy with the Chiefs, I don't know if they've talked yet, but I expect him to be a prime candidate over the next week or so," said Fowler when speculating who the frontrunners for the OC job could be. "Mike Vrabel seems intrigued by the Chiefs' offense. Either he's just trying to get ideas from the Chiefs by talking to Chiefs people or he's actually trying to implement some of the system."

According to reports, the Titans have already submitted requests to interview both Nagy and current Chiefs' OC Eric Bieniemy for the job, but Bieniemy seems more focused on head coaching opportunities and unlikely to take the interview.

Nagy returning to a coordinator role would be quite interesting. He was widely considered one of the top up-and-coming offensive minds in football when Chicago hired him in 2018, and is not afraid to implement a modern, pass-first offense. That said, his tenure with the Bears running his own system did not go well.

It's easy to succeed as a play caller with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill (through 2021) in your offense. But those guys aren't walking through the doors of the Titans' facility. Tennessee needs someone to scheme for their personnel and help players succeed, not succeed because of the players.

Nagy is intriguing, but hiring him comes with risk. Do you trust what he can bring over from Andy Reid's offense in Kansas City, or does the Bears' offense with Mitch Trubisky reveal who Nagy is away from the Chiefs playmakers?
