Former Tennessee Vols linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin signed a free-agent deal with the Houston Texans this week.
It's a two-year deal worth $7.5 million for the former Vol.
Reeves-Maybin spent the first five years of his career with the Detroit Lions after being selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The Clarksville, TN native played at Tennessee from 2013 to 2016. He made an immediate impact as a true freshman while playing on special teams. Reeves-Maybin moved into a starting role as a sophomore and quickly became a key defensive leader for the Volunteers.
On Saturday, Texans general manager Nick Caserio spoke to reporters, after the blockbuster Deshaun Watson trade, and noted that Houston wanted to sign Reeves-Maybin last year when he was a free agent. Reeves-Maybin ended up signing a one-year deal to stay with the Lions in 2021.
Caserio praised Reeves-Maybin's "traits and characteristics" on Saturday.
The forme Vol just turned 27 this past January. He has 164 career tackles and four forced fumbles over his first five years in the NFL.
