Former Vanderbilt Commodores quarterback Jordan Rogers, the younger brother of future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, had quite the take on Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton this past week.

Rodgers said during a television appearance on SEC Network at SEC Media Days that he thinks Milton is the most talented quarterback in the nation. And he doesn't think it's particularly close.

"I will say he has absolutely developed his touch, his accuracy — when I watched the tape back — especially the last two starts of the season," said Rodgers. "But Joe Milton is hands down the most talented quarterback in the entire country. It is not even close. Throws the ball 90 yards. Great. That's not a prerequisite to play quarterback. But I'll tell you what, the things that he's developed — his accuracy, his decision making — will play him into the Heisman conversation and play him into being a top 10 if not a top 5 draft pick next NFL draft."

"Joe Milton has every aspect that (former Florida QB) Anthony Richardson has," continued Rodgers. "He'll have better tape (than Richardson) and he will be in the conversation to be a top five pick next year. And Tennessee is going to be a sleeping — not sleeping, they're gonna be a giant this year. It's gonna be them and Georgia and I'm excited for that one at the end of the year."

That's an incredibly strong endorsement from Rodgers. And it's an endorsement that means something considering that Rodgers knows what it takes to play quarterback in the SEC.

Plenty of folks are "down" on the Vols entering the 2023 season because of all the talent that Tennessee lost from last season's 11-2 squad. Rodgers, however, thinks Tennessee is going to be one of college football's giants this fall. And he thinks the Vols are one of the teams that can upset the Bulldogs.

The Vols certainly have the talent, but they'll have to play essentially perfect football to get past Georgia in November in Knoxville. It's more than doable, but it won't be easy. And for Tennessee to pull the upset, they'll need Rodgers to be right about Milton.
