Former Tennessee Vols running back Jalen Hurd is back in the NFL after not playing in 2022.

Hurd, who left Tennessee in 2016 amid a disastrous ending to a promising season, transitioned to wide receiver while playing at Baylor in 2018.

The Tennessee native was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, but never saw any regular season action due to injuries.

Hurd signed with the New England Patriots earlier this month and he's looked good so far during training camp.

In fact, Hurd made a nice catch on a deep pass from Bailey Zappe at training camp on Sunday that got fans fired up.

If Hurd can stay healthy, he's absolutely a player that can make an impact in the NFL. He was always a hard runner at Tennessee that showed plenty of athleticism. Perhaps Bill Belichick can use Hurd's experience as a running back at Tennessee to find some creative ways to use the former Vol in New England.
