The Tennessee Vols have made it quite clear this offseason that getting to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game and then reaching the College Football Playoff are their top goals for the 2023 season.

Those goals, however, won't be easy to reach. Tennessee, as is always the case, has a tough schedule this fall.

Games against Alabama, Florida, and Georgia will play a big part in determining whether or not the Vols will reach their goals in 2023.

247Sports doesn't think the Vols will end up reaching their goals in 2023.

The national sports media outlet recently made their summer bowl game predictions and they have Tennessee playing Wisconsin in the Citrus Bowl

From 247Sports: Orlando gets first pick of SEC teams once the New Year's Six finalizes. Since the Vols are going to finish second in the East behind Georgia, again this is a projection, Tennessee goes to the Citrus. Steve Spurrier infamously said, "you can't spell Citrus without UT" and ironically, the Vols haven't played here since the end of the 2001 season against Michigan.

If the Vols play in the Citrus Bowl, it will likely mean they finish the regular season with a 9-3 record (the last two SEC teams to appear in the Citrus Bowl, LSU and Kentucky, both had nine regular season wins).

That's pretty much in line with most of the predictions we've seen for the Vols ahead of the 2023 season, which is fair considering the talent that Tennessee lost from their 2022 squad.

We'll see how it plays out for Tennessee in 2023. The Vols will be eager to prove folks wrong this fall, but getting past Alabama (in Tuscaloosa) and Georgia (in Knoxville) will be no easy task.

Tennessee Vols: Top 10 most unbelievable moments of the 2010s

The 2010s were full of unexpected moments for the Tennessee Vols. After the 2000's culminated with change (longtime UT football head coach Phillip Fulmer being replaced in late 2008), the 2010s were expected to bring a new era of stability. However, that was far from the case. Nearly every facet of Tennessee athletics underwent major […]
