The Tennessee Vols will take on the LSU Tigers on Tuesday night in Omaha in a College World Series elimination game.

Tennessee, which lost to LSU on Saturday, found their way into the matchup via a 6-4 come-from-behind win against the Stanford Cardinal on Monday afternoon.

LSU, meanwhile, will play in the elimination game thanks to their 3-2 loss to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Monday night.

After the Tigers' loss to Wake Forest on Monday night, LSU head coach Jay Johnson spoke to reporters about the game against the Vols on Tuesday (which will take place at 7:00 PM ET).

Johnson was specifically asked about how LSU can get back on track offensively after mustering just two runs against Wake Forest.

The second year LSU head coach acknowledged that Wake Forest and Tennessee have the two premier pitching staffs in the nation. Johnson also pointed out that Vols right handed pitcher Drew Beam, who will start against LSU on Tuesday, is one of the best pitchers in college baseball.

"The teams that are here, you know, particularly the two that we've played, are the two premier pitching staffs in college baseball," explained Johnson on Monday night.

"I have zero concerns about these guys preparing well, coming in and competing and executing our plan," added Johnson. "We're gonna have to do it against Drew Beam who's one of the best pitchers in the country. And so it'll be a really good challenge and we're gonna have to be ready for it."

Beam last pitched for the Vols in their Game 3 Super Regional win against Southern Mississippi.

The sophomore from Murfreesboro, TN pitched six innings against Southern Miss, scattering seven hits while giving up 0 runs.

Tennessee is 1-3 so far against LSU this season. Their one win was a 14-7 victory in Baton Rouge on April 1. Beam started that game for the Vols and he gave up six runs (one earned) in four innings of action.

The Vols will need a big performance from Beam to keep their College World Series hope alive. And it sounds like LSU is fully expecting Beam to be "on" on Tuesday night.
