Nico Iamaleava's younger brother speaks on Vols HC Josh Heupel
Tennessee Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava’s younger brother Madden is a highly touted recruit
Tennessee Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava hasn't taken a snap in a college game yet, but he's already one of the most well-known college football players in the nation.
That's because Iamaleava was the No. 1 overall recruit (per On3) in the 2023 recruiting class.
Iamaleava has ideal size/arm strength to go along with his wise-beyond-his-years demeanor and magnetic personality.
The hope for Vols fans is that Iamaleava can be a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback that leads the program to its first national championship since the 1998 season (though Joe Milton will hope to accomplish that feat this season).
Tennessee will also hope that Nico isn't the last Iamaleava to play on Rocky Top.
Nico's younger brother, Madden, is a sophomore in high school and he's already received offers from Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee (among a few others).
The younger Iamaleava spoke to Rivals.com recently and he was asked who his favorite head coach as a recruiter has been so far.
Unsurprisingly, he went with Vols head coach Josh Heupel.
"Obviously Coach Heupel because I've been around him so much and have experienced the whole Tennessee vibe," said Iamaleava. "He's a great guy and they definitely have something culture wise going on out there. All of the players love each other, the staff, everything. It's just a real family out there, so I'd definitely say coach Huepel."
Madden's recruitment will pick significantly in the not-so-distant future. And it sounds like the Vols have already made a great impression on the young quarterback.
It's not automatic that Tennessee will land Madden — his recruitment will be his own experience. But it certainly sounds like the Vols are in a good position to bring the 2025 quarterback to Tennessee
