A four-star recruit with a close connection to Tennessee Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava was listed this week as a prospect that's on "flip watch".

2024 four-star wide receiver Jordan Ross committed to Colorado State on June 30.

Ross, 6-foot/175 lbs from Downey, CA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 42 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 24 player in the state of California.

The west coast native played high school football at Warren with Iamaleava. In fact, Ross was one of Iamaleava's favorite targets.

On Friday, Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney listed Ross as a player that's on "flip watch".

From Rivals.com: One of the biggest surprise commitments this summer came when the four-star receiver from Downey (Calif.) Warren committed to Colorado State over a bunch of Power Five offers. Nico Iamaleava’s favorite target last season, Ross had nice stats when he played and could have easily picked a Pac-12 school or somewhere else.

Instead, the four-star committed to Colorado State as position coach and recruiting coordinator Chad Savage worked that recruitment hard and won out. But will it last, especially if higher-profile schools come calling through his senior season? The Rams definitely got a good one but now holding on could be the tougher part.

Ross doesn't have a reported offer from Tennessee as the Vols appear to have their sights set higher when it comes to 2024 wide receivers (UT is in the mix for five-star wide receivers Mike Matthews and Ryan Wingo as well as four-star wide receiver Amari Jefferson).

If Tennessee strikes out on some of their top targets, perhaps they could give Ross a look. They already know he has nice chemistry with Iamaleavea. And as a four-star recruit, he's still a highly rated player.

Nothing is imminent with Ross, but he could be a player that Tennessee fans should keep an eye on as the Vols' 2024 recruiting class continues to take shape.
