Not only have the Tennessee Titans failed to address residual issues from seasons past, but one new problem is plaguing the team through the first two weeks of the season.

Since Mike Vrabel was hired as head coach in 2018 the Titans have always been one of the most disciplined teams in the NFL.

Through his first four seasons at the helm, the Titans’ never finished worse than 17th in penalties. After starting 0-2, the Titans currently rank T-5 in the league with 16 infractions.

Due to injuries and offseason departures, the Titans are fielding one of the youngest rosters in Vrabel’s tenure. But being young is no excuse for lacking discipline.

For teams like the Titans, who are devoid of talent at key positions, it is of the utmost importance to play a clean game. With a slim margin of error, the Titans can’t afford to give opponents any extra help.

When asked about the penalties after an embarrassing Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Vrabel brushed off the nine times his team was penalized.

It’s been quite the reality check for the 2022 Tennessee Titans but, for a team with such a strong culture, these infractions should be occurring at a much lower rate.

The Titans will have a short week to revert to a disciplined brand of football with an extremely talented Las Vegas Raiders team coming to town on Sunday.
