The Tennessee Titans have a roster to win with right now. That being said, some players may be more important than others even if they aren't as talented. That's because of depth, roster construction, and scheme. Accordingly, who are the ten most important players on the Titans for the 2022-2023 season? Zach Bingham and Austin Stanley of A to Z Sports broke down their individual lists on Friday's morning show.
Check it out below.
There are a lot of really interesting aspects about each list. Keep in mind that these rankings are not the "top ten" players on the roster based on talent alone. Instead, they factor in their importance to the Titans this season. Austin put more of an emphasis on offensive players, having all of his top six on offense. He points to the trust he has in the defense in comparison. There are more questions to be answered on offense.
On the flip-side, Zach has a bit more of a variety in his rankings of Titans. Six of his ten are on defense, and there is a clear youth factor to his list. He is looking for young players like OL Dillon Radunz, WR Treylon Burks, and CB Caleb Farley to step up. Zach sees them as vital for the Titans to reach their peak.
Austin's Full List:
1. Derrick Henry
2. Ryan Tannehill
3. Taylor Lewan
4. Robert Woods
5. Treylon Burks
6. Austin Hooper
7. Jeffery Simmons
8. Bud Dupree
9. Kevin Byard
10. Harold Landry III
Zach's Full List:

2. Derrick Henry
3. Jeffery Simmons
4. Harold Landry
5. Bud Dupree
6. Dillon Radunz (or other RT)
7. Kevin Byard
8. Treylon Burks
9. Caleb Farley
10. Zach Cunningham
My List:
- Derrick Henry
- Ryan Tannehill
- Taylor Lewan
- Dillon Radunz (or other RT)
- Treylon Burks
- Kevin Byard
- Kristian Fulton
- Caleb Farley
- David Long Jr.
- Bud Dupree
At the Top
For the Titans, it all starts and ends with Derrick Henry. They did have success last season without their star RB, but it took elite defensive play. Some of their winning ways during that stretch are unsustainable and ineffective in the postseason. Tannehill is a close second, though. He can be average to above average for the Titans to make the playoffs. The QB has to be much better in the postseason, though. Going against the likes of Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, among others will turn up the heat.
Lewan and Radunz are both extremely important because Tennessee needs more consistent play from their OL. Lewan was very good during parts of last season, but he also struggled with some injuries and letdown performances at times. Radunz had plenty of rookie "bumps", but the Titans like his potential. He, or whoever plays RT, must step in and play well for Tannehill.
Defensive Second Half
Burks won't replace A.J. Brown, but he needs to stretch the field for the Titans. He was ultra-productive in the red-zone for Arkansas during his college career. Tennessee needs him to do the same for them at the next level. Byard and Fulton are in a similar boat. Byard is a top safety in the NFL, and his turnovers are very important for the success of the Titans on both sides of the ball. Fulton took big strides last season. He will be the top CB on the roster, and he must continue to develop.
Farley is an ultimate wild-card for the Titans, on the other hand. The young defensive back is so physically gifted, but injuries have haunted him. If he can stay healthy and fill the role of CB2/CB3, it takes the defense to the next level. David Long Jr. is very reliable, but the depth behind him is not. He is also easily the best Titans linebacker in pass defense, so his role cannot be understated.
Finally, the contract of Bud Dupree looms. The Titans paid him big money to be the rusher opposite of Harold Landry III. He was injured most of last season, so he needs to bounce back in 2022. A healthy Dupree alongside Jeffery Simmons, Denico Autry, and Landry is arguably the best DL unit in the AFC.
You could make an argument for the importance of just about any player on the roster for the Titans. These are the rankings that we feel are most accurate for the Titans for this season.
