Tennessee Vols coach Rick Barnes dropped the basketball quote of the year recently in the UT locker room.
And we got to hear it thanks to a clip from the SEC Network.
After the Vols' recent win against the Kentucky Wildcats, Barnes told his team "We are a national championship contender — I'm telling you, you better know that".
Tennessee further showed they're a national championship contender this past weekend by beating a top-five ranked Auburn team in Thompson-Boling Arena.
The Vols are 21-7 with two games remaining in the regular season. They don't have any bad losses on their resumé and they're poised to be a No. 3 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Tennessee has the talent. And they're getting hot at the right time. The Vols are 10-2 since their blowout loss to Kentucky in January.
This team is exactly where they need to be right now.
Making a Final Four run usually boils down to which teams get hot at the right time.
And the Volunteers are certainly getting hot at the right time.
Why not Tennessee this year?
