South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer had quite a day on Thursday.

Beamer led South Carolina to a win in the Duke's Mayo Bowl over border rival North Carolina. Then he was doused in mayonnaise as his "reward".

Thanks to Beamer's willingness to participate in the mayo bath, $10,000 was given to a charity by Duke's Mayo.

That's a feel-good story, right?

Well, apparently not for at least one national college football writer.

CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd revealed himself to a be massive curmudgeon on Thursday when he tweeted "My God, we've reached the point where hyping a condiment being poured on an adult male passes for programming. When we have the discussion about bowl relevance, I'll start right here."

Beamer proceeded to absolutely body bag Dodd on Twitter.

Check it out.

Good for Beamer. Dodd completely missed the point of the mayo bath. And really, even if it had nothing to do with charity, it was just a fun thing for a coach to do. And if we aren't having fun with sports, what are we even doing?
