After a couple of enormous wins for the Titans over the past two weeks, they may have the biggest game of their season so far in Week 8. They will take on the AFC South's 2nd-place team, the Indianapolis Colts. Tennessee took care of business against Indy in Week 3, so another win would be monumental for their chance for the division crown.
Regardless, based on the numbers, they will still be the favorite following Sunday's divisional battle.
So, it is safe to say that the Titans will get the Colts' best this week. Carson Wentz has been playing better so far this season compared to last year. Jonathan Taylor has been dynamic, and their defense has shown that they can get stops when they matter.
On the flip-side, Tennessee has proven themselves to be one of the most well-established teams in the NFL. Their offense runs through Derrick Henry most weeks, but Ryan Tannehill and his targets showed last week that they can be at the forefront of the offense for a win.
Not to mention, the beaten and battered defense continues to surprise everyone with their play. The front seven for the Titans looks the best it has in recent memory. They are getting consistent pressure, a trait they have not mustered much of at all in the past couple of years. Harold Landry III, Denico Autry, and Jeffery Simmons have all been consistent forces. Bud Dupree has improved as he has gotten more reps returning from his injury.
Kevin Byard is having arguably his best season so far, too. Yes, that is the case.
In Sunday's game, the Colts may employ a lot of what they did this past week against the San Francisco 49ers. They gave their stud running back a lot of carries and took a plethora of deep shots to their wide receivers.
The inexperienced cornerbacks of the Titans must be prepared to avoid pass interference calls on those plays. The entire secondary has to be disciplined because the front seven should be able to hold their own.
On offense, expect another heavy workload for Derrick Henry as the Titans try to grind out another valuable win on their path to the playoffs. You could see Julio Jones get more involved as well as he continues his return to full health.
A win against the Colts on Sunday would almost mathematically lock up another AFC South title, so expect a gritty game on both sides.
